Team Christmas Lunch

As part of our monthly team appreciation event, in December we spread some extra holiday cheer by treating our incredible teams to a special Christmas Lunch. The festivities included a surprise visit from Santa himself and lively entertainment with festive music that got everyone into the holiday spirit. It was our way of saying thank you for all the hard work and dedication of #teambelfry throughout the year.

Salvation Army Toy Appeal

We’re proud to share that The Belfry has supported the Salvation Army Toy Appeal by donating a collection of toys to help bring smiles to children and families in need this Christmas. This wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible generosity of our team - thank you to all who donated for helping us make a difference in our community. Together, we’re not just celebrating the festive season but sharing the joy of giving.

Long Service Awards

In November, we proudly hosted our Long Service Awards, celebrating 50 exceptional team members who reached milestone anniversaries, from 5 years all the way to an impressive 35 years of service. Each of these individuals represents the dedication, loyalty, and commitment that make The Belfry a truly special place for both our guests and our team.

Walk for Wellbeing 2024

Our team proudly joined hundreds of others across the country in the 20km Walk for Wellbeing around Birmingham supporting the incredible work of Hospitality Action. Together, we raised over £800 to help promote mental health support for those in our industry.

Curry & Quiz Night

At The Belfry Hotel, we recently celebrated with our teams at our annual Curry & Quiz Night. This special event was held to honour the hard work of our team during this year’s Betfred British Masters. The evening was full of delicious food, lively conversation and an energetic quiz, where our Meeting & Events team proudly claimed the title of Quiz Team of the Year. We’re grateful to all our amazing employees for their enthusiasm and teamwork, making it a night to remember!

Excellence in Promoting Careers Award

The Belfry Hotel & Resort has been awarded the 2024 *Excellence in Promoting Careers Award* for its innovative efforts to tackle industry challenges. By partnering with local schools, students, government, and charities, the resort created a program to educate young talent and build a future workforce pipeline. These partnerships not only strengthened community ties but also enhanced the company's operations, demonstrating The Belfry's commitment to promoting growth and opportunity for both the business and the local community.

Spinning

In September, the Belfry’s Leisure Club came together to support a worthy cause, raising £800 for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Members of the Leisure Club and Belfry staff took part in a two-hour Spinning class, filled with energy and intensity. Participants pedaled hard, pushing themselves throughout the session, driven by a shared commitment to help young people battling cancer. Thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our members and staff, we are proud to have made a significant contribution to this important cause.

Tough Mudder

We are incredibly proud of our Meeting & Events team, who took on the Tough Mudder challenge to raise funds for one of our chosen charities, Teenage Cancer Trust. Their teamwork, determination, and spirit helped them overcome the challenging course, and together they raised an impressive £1,220 for this important cause. A huge congratulations to the team for their inspiring efforts!

Spin the wheel

To say a huge thank you to our incredible team for their hard work and dedication during the Betfred British Masters, we held a "Spin the Wheel" game where everyone was a winner. Here's Bobby, one of the Greenkeepers winning some British Masters Merchandise—just one of the many fantastic moments that made this competition so special. Our team truly made a difference to all our guests & spectators over the 5 days, and we’re proud to celebrate our success together!

Staff BBQ

In July, as part of our monthly appreciation initiative, our General Manager hosted an incredible team BBQ to thank everyone for their hard work. Team Belfry indulged in delicious food and also had the chance to explore the amazing benefits offered at The Belfry, with our benefits providers on-site to chat, answer questions, and share information about our range of perks.

Production Chef Apprenticeship

At The Belfry, we are proud to offer all our employees the opportunity to gain nationally recognised Apprenticeship qualifications, delivered on the job to support them in excelling in their roles and advancing their careers. We are delighted to congratulate Chandler from our Sam’s Clubhouse Kitchen on successfully passing his Level 2 qualification as a Production Chef, showcasing our commitment to professional development and excellence.

2024 Charity Auction

Throughout June we hosted an online charity auction giving our members and staff the chance to bid on once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and prizes. We are delighted to share that we raised £6,000 which will be split between our three partner charities - Motor Neurone Disease, Teenage Cancer Trust and Hospitality Action!

Work Experience

At The Belfry, we offer a comprehensive work experience program designed for pupils from local schools to gain valuable insights into the hospitality industry. This program, lasting between one and two weeks, provides students with hands-on experience across various departments, helping them to develop essential skills and a deeper understanding of hotel operations. Through this initiative, we aim to inspire the next generation of hospitality professionals and support our local community.

Belfry Running Club

At The Belfry, we believe in promoting a healthy and connected workplace culture, and our Belfry Running Club represents this spirit. This vibrant community of our team from various departments meets weekly at a local park to encourage healthy habits and build strong relationships. Through their shared commitment to wellness, our team gain motivation and a deeper sense of unity, enhancing both their personal wellbeing and our workplace environment.

Careers in Golf

We were excited to partner with the PGA to host a successful Careers in Golf day at our iconic resort in May. Welcoming 80 students from four different schools, the event provided an invaluable opportunity for them to gain insight into the multitude of exciting careers available within the Golfing and Greenkeeping industries. From professional golfing to the meticulous craft of Greenkeeping, students had the chance to explore various career paths firsthand and engage with industry professionals. It was an inspiring day that highlighted the diverse opportunities within our beloved sport and showcased our commitment to encourage the next generation of talent in Golf and Greenkeeping.

London Marathon

We are immensely proud to spotlight Sarah Hughes, Front Office Manager, who ran the London Marathon in April. Her inspiring journey wasn't just about personal triumph; it was about making a difference. Sarah dedicated her run to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust, a cause deeply dear to her heart. Through her dedication and determination, she raised an incredible £2427. Sarah's amazing achievement represents the spirit of giving and compassion that defines The Belfry community.

Best Employer Award

In April, The Belfry attended the Springboard Awards for Excellence in London. The Springboard Awards are one of the most prestigious recognitions in the hospitality sector and we were thrilled to win the Best Employer Award. Our benefits, rewards, learning programmes, wellbeing focus and work experience programmes were just few of the elements which helped to secure this fantastic award. This achievement reflects our commitment to our team members, their growth, and our industry and we are very proud of the recognition.

April Charity Fundraising

As part of the Belfry’s Charity Fundraising, the Sales team were on The Brabazon golf course hosting a 10th Hole Challenge. Guests and team members were challenged to have a go for the chance to win fantastic prizes and help the Sales team raise money for our nominated charities Teenage Cancer Trust, Hospitality Action and MND. On the day an incredible £1000 were raised.

International Salon Culinaire Competition

We are very proud to share that Methus Sawangseang, Chef de Partie at The Belfry, was awarded two medals at the International Salon Culinaire Competition last week: Silver - Junior Restaurant Fish Course and Bronze - Junior Lamb. The International Salon Culinaire is a prestigious culinary competition that has been championing excellence for over a century. Congratulations Methus!

Happy Easter

Own Your Actions

In March, Team Belfry is embracing our Belfry Belief 'Own Your Actions', all about celebrating accountability, responsibility, and the unique actions that set us apart. We invited our team to write an example of either themselves or each other living the belief for everyone to see their contribution. And one individual who has demonstrated exceptional ownership of their actions wins a prize! #BelfryBeliefs

Celebrating Our Team's Generosity

Big news! In February, our greenkeeping team and Sam's Clubhouse crew teamed up to support three incredible charities: Teenage Cancer Trust, MND Research, and Hospitality Action. Guess what? Our greenkeeping team raised £220, and the Sam's Clubhouse gang raised an impressive £340 through a sponsored walk! We couldn't be prouder of their generosity and teamwork. Way to go, team!

VALENTINE'S DAY

At the Belfry, we believe that our team is the heartbeat of our success, and on this Valentine's Day, we're celebrating each and every member with genuine appreciation. Our monthly team appreciation event is a small token of gratitude for the incredible work our employees do day in and day out. This Valentine's Day, we're spreading the love with sweet treats as a way to express our thanks for their dedication, passion, and commitment.

Belfry Awards 2023

In January, we held our Annual Belfry Awards. The awards were filled with celebrations as we recognised the remarkable achievements of all our award winners and the success of #TeamBelfry in 2023. Beyond the awards, we take immense pride in our commitment to making a positive impact and our amazing team raised an extraordinary £2500 from the event for Teenage Cancer Trust, our partner charity chosen by our team. Join us in celebrating not just our successes but the meaningful contributions we make to our community.

January Health & Wellness

In the month of January, our monthly wellness focus has been Health and Fitness. We asked our teams to choose 2-3 simple and achievable goals weekly – one related to fitness and one related to nutrition. Throughout the month our Leisure team posted video’s to help motivate and inspire the team, providing hints and tips.
