Opening September 2025
one month ahead of schedule
Construction of The Masters Suite, a new events space at The Belfry Hotel & Resort, in West Midlands, is progressing ahead of schedule and is now confirmed to open in September, one month earlier than planned.
The dynamic new venue, part of a wider £80million development project at the Resort, will further enhance The Belfry’s award-winning meetings and events offering. Crowned ‘England’s Best Incentive Hotel 2024’ at the World MICE Awards, it is home to 23 stylish and adaptable events spaces and is expertly placed to cater for everything from the corporate and international markets to the incentive and association markets.
At 852sqm and with a max capacity of 920, The Masters Suite will be the resort’s biggest events space. Having received over £11million-worth of enquiries to date, it is an ideal venue for conferences, product launches, mini expos, award ceremonies, charity dinners and banquets for 600 people or more. Once complete, The Masters Suite will include a large pre-function area and mezzanine level, executive boardroom and outdoor terrace overlooking The Brabazon golf course.
Chris Semones, Managing Director at Goldman Sachs said: “The Belfry has a deserved reputation for excellence, and we have seen first-hand its capacity for innovation and growth, and its drive to become a leading leisure and events destination in the UK. As owners, our investment only reinforces that. We look forward to taking this renowned resort from strength to strength over the coming years, solidifying its place at the heart of the events community, and continuing to invest in its people, its potential and its future.”
The exciting development project, which will create over 200 additional jobs, also includes the building of a new Leisure Club. Spread across two levels, it will include a large swimming pool with a family-friendly slide, a dedicated lap pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs and café. Four premium, glass-fronted studios will overlook the PGA National golf course and sit alongside an extensive gym area. A large, high-ceilinged, multipurpose sports area will also provide space for guests to enjoy a range of indoor sports.
Chris Eigelaar, Resort Director at The Belfry, said: “Ensuring our valued guests have an experience like no other is what drives us. It’s extremely inspiring to see the Resort grow and I have no doubt that this exhilarating development will further enhance The Belfry brand and its reputation as one of the UK’s most outstanding leisure and events destinations.”

An interview with
Chris Eigelaar, Resort Director
Please can you update us on the latest progress with the expansion project?
2024 is an incredibly exciting time for us; our expansion plans are in full swing and we’re making great progress. We’ve already refurbished our lobby, all our more than 300 bedrooms, and redesigned our famous Brabazon Bar. Construction of our flagship 852sqm events space, The Masters Suite, which will include 149 brand new bedrooms, began in February, and last month we started work on building a state of the art new Leisure Club. This year will also see the expansion of our 2AA Rosette restaurant, The Ryder Grill, to incorporate The Ryder Grill Orangery which will increase our capacity by over 150 covers.
We pride ourselves on the unparallelled service we provide for our guests, and my team has been incredibly tenacious in ensuring every aspect of the development is being delivered with imagination, ambition and heart. This development is our commitment to our guests that The Belfry will always deliver an experience like no other, and we can’t wait to show them how the expansion will elevate their time with us.
Is the aspiration that The Masters Suite and the rest of the redevelopment will lead to increased community use of The Belfry?
Birmingham is now the biggest centre for business events outside of London. Last year, we turned away business due to capacity, so we know there is demand for a dynamic, large-scale events space in the Midlands. The Masters Suite addresses this need with ingenuity, creativity, and expertise, to support the regional economy and the billions of pounds business events bring to it each year.
But it doesn’t just stop there, our reach, and therefore our impact, is much wider. Located in the heart of England, with excellent transport links and more than 90% of the country’s population within a four-hour travel time, we are a draw for international event professionals too. Indeed, the West Midlands welcomed a record-breaking 141.2 million tourists last year. With the region’s vibrant cultural mix and welcoming persona, it’s not hard to see why.
We also anticipate an increase in leisure guests with the unveiling of our new Leisure Club. We expect families, in particular, will be eager to enjoy new adventures and create fun-filled memories by making the most of the club’s buzzing café and the thrilling family-friendly slide in its large swimming pool.
We are extremely proud of the leading role we play in serving the needs of the West Midlands and will continue to champion the region by investing in its economy, its people, and its future.
Please can you talk about the facilities that will be available as part of the new Leisure Club?
Our guests are the foundation of our business and at the heart of every decision we make. Above all, their enjoyment is paramount to us. This is why we’re so thrilled to be expanding and enhancing our leisure offering, and providing guests with an unparalleled fitness experience, with the building of our stylish new Leisure Club.
Spread across two levels, the ground floor will include a large swimming pool with an exhilarating family-friendly slide, a dedicated lap pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, and a vibrant café ideal for bringing families together for a post-swim treat, or to indulge in some much-deserved post-workout refreshments.
From the first floor vantage point, four premium, glass-fronted studios, perfect for group classes such as yoga, will overlook acres of stunning green space, and sit alongside an extensive gym area with cutting-edge facilities. A large, high-ceilinged, multipurpose sports area will also provide the freedom and space visitors need to enjoy expansive sports such as tennis, netball and badminton.
What is a BREEAM Excellence rating and how would achieving it help The Belfry going forward?
As one of the region’s foremost hospitality and events venues, we believe in leading by example. Sustainability is at the forefront of our mind, for the health and welfare of our guests, but also for the long-term future of both our business and our planet as we adapt to its changing needs. The Leisure Club and The Masters Suite are being constructed with the aim of attaining a BREEAM Excellence* rating, a globally recognised building sustainability assessment, with both buildings needing to earn a score of at least 70% to achieve this.
We know a sustainable venue is also something which our guests value as they try to make choices for their lives which support the long-term health of the planet - something they have every right to expect from the businesses they choose to interact with. So, determined to minimise our environmental impact while also incorporating innovative solutions for long-term sustainability, our plans are taking into consideration the following factors as we embed sustainability into the heart of our operations:
• Solar panels
• Utilising sustainable materials and techniques
• The overall energy efficiency of the buildings
• PIR lighting controls
• Accessibility factors
• Biodiversity protection
• BMS monitors for gas/ power/ water/ heating.
Of course, as a resort, we’ve already adopted a stringent zero waste to landfill policy, and we are committed to only working with suppliers on The Masters Suite build who meet our strict sustainability requirements.
We all know this is a crucial decade for our planet, and I look forward to sharing more of our sustainability journey with you as the development progresses.

Work begins
on multi-million-pound expansion
A major expansion and renovation project, in excess of £80 million, has begun at the multi-award-winning The Belfry Hotel & Resort in West Midlands. The impressive project, due for completion September 2025, will see a flagship 852sqm event space, The Masters Suite, built and designed to host 648 guests for banqueting with a max capacity of 920, making it perfect for conferences and product launches, mini expos and weddings.
Chris Eigelaar, Resort Director;
“The commencement of work on site is a significant moment for the entire team at The Belfry after years of planning behind the scenes. Work on the new The Masters Suite and the wider refurbishment is moving at quite a pace already, and it’s exciting to see the progress that’s made each day.
“We are experiencing increased demand for large events in the luxury venue market from both new and existing customers. The Masters Suite will allow us to accommodate major events that we haven’t been able to cater for before.
“The Masters Suite and adjoining bedrooms will transform our offering by providing a dedicated space for the meetings, incentives, conferences and events market. It will also be the perfect luxury venue for large weddings. We’re looking forward to building on our reputation as an outstanding business, leisure, and golf destination.”
The Masters Suite interior design draws in the colours of the Resort’s verdant surroundings, using soft green tones, complemented by gold accents. Expansive floor to ceiling windows provide panoramic views over the Brabazon golf course, flooding the space with natural light and making it a striking backdrop for any event.
At 852qm, the suite can also be divided into smaller spaces allowing flexibility and versatility. With a large pre-function area including a mezzanine level, outdoor terrace, and an executive boardroom, and situated opposite The Green, our versatile outdoor team building space, it is designed to meet the diverse needs of clients, organisers and delegates. Visitors can also benefit from an additional 80 electric vehicle charging points and complimentary on-site parking.
In addition, there will be 149 spacious bedrooms in an adjoining building, and renovation of many other areas of the resort. The resort will be home to a new Leisure Club with large pool and family friendly slide, swim lane and indoor and outdoor hot tubs. With extensive gym space, four studios and large multipurpose sports area, the new Leisure Club will offer members and guests an unrivalled fitness experience.
Some of the resort enhancements included in the overall redevelopment project are already complete. These include the refurbishment of existing bedrooms, the building of two new outdoor event spaces, Terrace on the 10th, and The Green, and a stylish redesigned Brabazon Bar and Lobby.
