Personal Training is a fantastic way to kick-start your workout motivation and improve your health and fitness. Earlier this month we caught up with The Belfry Leisure Clubs Personal Trainer Adam Hunt, to find out his top tips for getting fit, career highlights and what a typical day in his role looks like.

How long have you been a personal trainer?

I have been a qualified personal trainer for 4 years previously working at David Lloyd and working at The Belfry now since August 2016.

What's your typical day?

A typical day for me consists of meeting and advising members, understanding their goals and building relationships. You can also find me training clients,  teaching classes and researching new ways to keep my sessions fresh and exciting.

What inspired you to become a personal trainer?

The inspiration for me to become a personal trainer was the thought of doing something I love as a career and also to have the opportunity to improve someone’s life through getting fitter and stronger.

What has been your career highlight to date?

The biggest highlight of my job is that I get to do something I’m passionate about and that I get to meet new people every day and form friendships with my clients.

What are your qualifications?

I have a BSc (Hons) Exercise and Health, I am a level 2 qualified gym instructor, a level 3 qualified personal trainer and I’m also qualified to work with clients on a GP referral scheme.

What are your specialist areas?

I specialise in HIIT, weight and circuit training. These 3 forms of training are my absolute favourite and I use them with clients as way of changing their body shapes and getting them quicker, fitter and stronger.

What’s your top tip for getting into fitness?

I would say that you need to “find your fit” and by that I mean something you most enjoy whether that be classes, personal training, swimming, running and  cycling. I encourage all my clients to be consistent and with motivation from me and the team it helps them to stick to whatever they’re doing!

How do you keep your sessions enjoyable and motivating?

When training clients I love to incorporate different pieces of equipment (such as kettlebells, vipers, slam-balls and core bags) to keep my sessions as enjoyable as possible. I try my best to keep them as fresh and as different as possible so that my clients are always being challenged and keep on learning.

So if you’re serious about getting fitter, stronger or wanting to improve the shape of your body I look forward to meeting you soon.
